Recently I heard that The Raid is getting an American version made, but no information is given when it will be released. So I decided to find out what is so good about the original film that they are making a remake so early. I knew that everybody liked this movie. Calling it the best action movie. When the end of the movie came I could finally say my thoughts and I can say that this is really one of the best.

When I was halfway through the movie, I thought – holy shit somebody got really creative with the killing. And that is good. You won’t see nothing like this in any other movie – it is bloody awesome. So much blood. They did everything right with action sequences that you will not feel like there is too much blood or too much action – it is perfect. Like some movies they put so much blood in it, you just get tired. For me the movie was something fresh because of the creativity of killing somebody and this movie shows a fighting style that I think I haven’t seen in a movie before and is called Pencak Silat. Which is the indigenous fighting style of Indonesia. The fighting looked so beautiful and enjoyed all of it.

The plot was simple but interesting. A S.W.A.T. team has been trapped in a tenement and has to fight against army of thugs and killers that is sent by a ruthless mobster. Simple. The movie revolves mostly through action sequences and doesn’t have much dialogue and character development. But when have you seen an action movie that has been dependent on a dialogue? Never! It is an action movie and you will get some freaking bloody action. The whole movie was shot great and I can’t say nothing bad about it. The director did a great job.

For me some acting done from the actors were really good. Like Iko Uwais (Merantau, Man of Tai Chi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) playing Rama was good – showing how a man can survive even if all the odds are against him. And I enjoyed Yayan Ruhian (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Merantau) as Mad Dog – this guy can really kick some ass. Loved his role. But all the other actors weren’t that good in my eyes. Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian has already worked on five movies together and the fifth will be the sequel to Skyline (2010) called Beyond Skyline.

As of 8 July 2012, the film has grossed $4,105,123 in North America. The film grossed approximately $9.1 million worldwide.

If you want to see some good old action on the screen with lots of blood, fighting and good directing – get this movie and you won’t regret it. It is an awesome ride from the start to finish.
